This is about inspiring women and you are really good at that.

I kinda like the idea of Scooby Doo marketing myself. :) Wonder if we can find a Mystery Machine for promotions across the country? LOL

Thanks for stopping by and for checking out my new site. It's still very infantile, but it will grow over time.

Re: Muddy, Murky Marketing Waters

I wanna do Scooby Doo marketing! ;)

Patti, this was so refreshing. I had to laugh because you're so right. There's a suffocating avalanche of advice out there and Googling the word "marketing tips" sounds truly terrifying! LOL.

I like your simple plan. And the name of your biz is sparkly and fun. I'm off to check out Sassy Women's Marketing.

~ Milli

P.S. I can't think of a better way or a better reason. If I consistently push my comfort zone just a little more each time, I will one day have a giant arse circle instead of this small one. Yay!

Re: Japan Tsunami Relief Event

Patti, this is a heartwarming effort and I wish you all the best with your fund raising. We're financially pressed right now so we'll donate later, after things improve with our situation. (I've read that the ongoing expenses of disaster relief rely on people donating at the various stages, so that's good to know because I do want to help.)

Since it sounds like you're still looking around considering who to donate through, I can say that Americares is worth checking in to. I do all my online donations through them now because I'm impressed with how much of their expenses (98%) actually get to disaster victims as real aid. You can get a fast picture of that by reading the info in the box in the bottom right corner:

http://www.americares.org

~ Milli

Re: Find Your Passion and Get Rich!

LOL! Did you see what you said? "This is something I can do." You said it for exactly the same reasons I did. Because it's something you love and you know you can do it. It's not some pie-in-the-sky thing that needs all those special trainings from online gurus. It's simple and doable, even though it will take hard work. So we're both on the right track, and we don't need to feel guilty about it :~)

P.S. Passion burn-out, IMHO, is real and needs a little recovery time. So go easy on yourself, work your candle biz, and remembering that you're healing something.

XOXO

Re: Find Your Passion and Get Rich!

I forgot to say thank you about liking the new look. :)

Re: Find Your Passion and Get Rich!

Oh Milli, thanks for your input. I thought you'd recognize your statement. :)
I'm to the point now that I think I have passion burn out. LOL. I do, however, have a few plans that I've found and make sense to me. If I can combine those into one doable action plan, I think I'll be okay.

The one thing I am passionate about is being back in the candle business. Yes, it's network marketing, but I love-LOVE-LOVE these candles. They practically sell themselves. And yes, there's more to creating a business here than just retailing the products, but this is something I can do and will help me work some fears I have lingering over my shoulder.

Like you, I think I've listened to enough hype and it's time to get the bum up and just start doing.

Thanks again for you comment.
Big Hugs!

Re: Find Your Passion and Get Rich!

I hear what you're saying about trying to build a business based on passion and how they can almost ram it down your throat. And how it can feel like there are too many options and that can be overwhelming too. I agree with your statement that the whole passion thing (out in the marketing arena) is over-rated. It has almost become like a guilt trip.

As you know, I'm the one who said “The plan I have for [omitted] is something I know I can do.” I do have passion for my work, but I can't pretend it's there every minute. There are some pretty darn tedious things that need to be done (sometimes over and over) so that people will eventually be able to enjoy my new products seamlessly, not giving a thought to all the blood, sweat and insomnia that went into it. Or the self-doubt I felt along the way.

I enjoyed your post because it called a spade a spade. I'm tired of being shown all these phenomenal numbers and glossy images and amazing stories of adversity turned into seven figures to try to live up to. I don't feel any of that doing positive things for my self-esteem right now. I just feel like I'm being sold to.

The new look for your blog is wonderful, Patti. I love the cozy feel.

Re: Find Your Passion and Get Rich!

Thanks for stopping by Catherine.

I do agree with you. The base of the post was mostly rhetorical. I do have passions--sometimes to the extent that it completely drains me.

I do have one thing in particular that I am passionate about to the extent that I intend to build something around it. I haven't fully announced it yet. It's coming though. :)

Thanks again for stopping by.
Hugs!
Patti

Re: Find Your Passion and Get Rich!

Remember Edison said “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration!” I'd like to think that some of that perspiration involves passion and not all busy work.

I think having passion for something makes it more alive and desirable. It fills me with goosebumps of joy when I'm creating. I notice I have better reflections around me and that people are more attracted to me when I am in this state. Even though I want to live there all the time I'm not 100% successful, but it sure makes me more aware of it's absence when I'm not. And the residue of the joy makes it easier to function when I am involved in things that I'm not passionate about.

So I don't think passion is overrated at all. And maybe, like anything else, it just takes practice.

Re: Heads Up for 10K Day! This is too cool. My plans for next year are more in line with "feeling" accomplished than having a gazillion and one projects too.
"Doing with purpose" is an excellent mindset and great advice.

Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. Ditzler. It is all common sense really - but if you feel daunted and don't know where to start, it's great instruction as it takes you step by step through working out what you want and how to get it.

My goals for the new year are basically centred around "doing with purpose". Instead of being very busy with lots of projects, I've now got an action plan in place to get each of them actually COMPLETED. This next year is about feeling like I've accomplished rather than just having a lot going on!

Good luck with your goals!

Aurora

Re: Why I Walked Away from Freelance

Thanks Milli, the groove has been slow but sometimes we need a nice break to just hang out.
